The World's Best Bike Videos #62
Everyone is stuck on "full send" mode - no holiday break - the big hits keep coming!
Let’s Ride
This week’s newsletter is so solid. Every single video and link in here is absolutely bonkers (or at least…more than usual). Buckle up, we’re going to end this year strong!
Lost Paradise 3
Everything about this video is rad - the riding, the trails, the filming. It’s been two years since Eliott released the previous version of Lost Paradise, and it was worth the wait. Some of this stuff doesn’t even look real - well done to Eliott and everyone else that put energy into this project!
Trading Backyards
I am unapologetically one of Hannah Bergemann’s biggest fans - she absolutely rips! This video shows her trading some epic trail spots with Matt Bolton. Gnarly trails in both Bellingham and Squamish, this is the real deal!
Swapping Lines: Bernard Kerr
Stefan Garlicki’s fourth episode in the “Swapping Lines” series goes down at DYFI Bike Park with Bernard Kerr. Fast and fun, this series always delivers! If you’ve only seen the Red Bull Hardline track from DYFI, this video gives you another look at the Atherton’s bike park.
Have You Seen This?
This kid took the internet by storm this week, Tayvin Sheridan is a one-armed mountain biker who is fully sending it on jumps. Respect! So impressive - go check him out!
Newsworthy
😳 A few weeks ago, I mentioned that it had been relatively quiet on the team news for the 2025 season. How quickly things change! In the past week, we saw a barrage of updates on the sponsorship front. PinkBike has been tracking them all, which you can scroll through here.
📈 The Godziek Brothers had an insane season in 2024 - between some massive wins and viral video projects, they were sending it nonstop all year. Check out the video that put together to share all the hits!
🎥 FMD Racing is releasing How We Roll, a series supported by Fox Racing, this week. Stay tuned for more on this, but for now - here’s a preview!
🚀 Specialized launched the Status 2 bike with a video featuring Remy Morton, Matt Begg, Christian Rigal, Blake Hansen, Chelsea Kimball and Allan Cooke. I wish all bikes were launched like this!
🤘 The UK has a public slopestyle course - Sam Pilgrim shared a video about the bike park, looks legit!
I Can’t Stop Thinking About
If you missed it on Friday, I sent out a special edition of this newsletter to share the details about my latest video from the San Francisco Peninsula. Up to this point, I’ve made a lot of videos teaching people how to ride - but never where to ride. This travel series is my way of providing something new, so you have an excuse to keep riding with me, even after you learn all the mountain bike (or trials) basics.
I truly had a blast creating that video (in two very full days - which included a pretty heavy crash) and am already working on a plan to create more of those. I’m hoping to include even more stories and local heroes into the future videos, so if you have any ideas to share, please don’t hesitate to hit me up.
Thank you to everyone who left encouraging comments after watching the video, I read everything and it made all the hard work worthwhile. And…if you haven’t already seen (or shared) the video, here’s a link to it!
Hidden Gems: Travel Guide
You can learn a lot about trails on Trailforks or Strava, but what you can’t learn is where to get coffee before the ride and where to snag burritos post-ride. Whenever I travel, I want to know what the locals know, and that’s why I made this video. Leave me a comment on this video and let me know where we should go next?
Behind The MOST Viral Bike Videos
This week on our podcast Second Nature, I interviewed Stu Thomson, the Founder and CEO of Cut Media. He’s been friends with Danny MacAskill (and me) for the better part of two decades, and his creative agency has been behind all of the best mountain bike videos. Have a listen to how it all began - and where it’s headed!
Thank You
Thank you for reading today’s newsletter (and Friday’s special edition) - the response this week was great, hopefully I’ll be able to create more special editions in the future with that format. Onwards and upwards!
